August, 2018

    August 21, 2018 by misscooper1

Yay it’s book week and everyone is dressed up! We can’t wait to get the day started.

Yesterday the 20th of August it was Book Week so we dressed up. The day was amazing and it was so much fun! There was lots of Where’s Wally, Harry Potters and Dorothys and lots more! I dressed up as someone from Harry Potter, and I dressed up as Mary Poppins

Some of the things we did was a whole school assembly, and someone from each class went up in front of the school; from our class it was Steph. There was a best dress from each class. Our class also made books by making a rectangular prism and decorating the front and back covers. We had to calculate the volume of the book and write it on their as well.

We are so excited for next year so we can see all the costumes! Thanks for reading.

  2. Robotics and technology

    August 21, 2018 by misscooper1

    I love robots and technology!

My name is Abanoub and favourite thing at school is using different technologies to learn. I have even included technology as my change priority goal on my Learning Map.

Mr Kelly, the technology teacher, taught us about circuits last term. He helped us make a railway crossing (not a real one though). The most important part of it was the LED light that goes red, black, red, black (you know like the one on Clyde road, it gets very busy there).

In coding club with Mr Kelly, we got to program awesome Mindstorm robots to go forwards, backwards, right and left. I love new technology and how everything is different. It really makes a difference in our world. My favorite thing about technology is the robots.

    Until next time, stay imaginative!

  3. Off to the Melbourne Museum!

Last week the grade four students set off on an adventure to the Melbourne Museum. We visited the First People’s exhibition to learn more about the Indigenous Australians and then spent some time exploring the rest of the museum. Here’s what some of the 4L students had to say about the day:

“We went to the First People’s exhibition and I learnt that Indigenous Australians made blankets for their babies out of possum skin. They added to the blankets with more possum skin as the baby grew” –  Nate

“I learnt that Phar Lap was a really good racer but sadly he was poisoned. I also learnt that Wominjeka means welcome” – Summer

“At the First People’s exhibition there was a big map of Australia. When you pressed the button in different areas it spoke in different Aboriginal languages. There were over 250 Aboriginal languages. I also loved seeing the dinosaurs in the Dinosaur Walk” –  Stefano

“I saw an old fashioned house at the museum. In the Olden Days they had really small houses but fit 8 people inside. I also learnt that Phar Lap had the biggest heart of any race horse. At the First People’s exhibit I learnt that Indigenous Australians painted themselves for ceremonies” – Mikayla
